The Political Bureau of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance Salutes the Heroes of the Resistance and the Army on the 11th Anniversary of the Launch of the Resistance in Taiz

On the 11th anniversary of the launch of the Popular Resistance in Taiz Governorate, the Political Bureau of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance extends greetings, appreciation, and reverence to the leaders and heroes of the resistance — a salute befitting the importance and stature of the historic confrontation that erupted on April 16, 2015, in the city of Taiz, when its loyal people decided to stand against the coup aggression and prevent their governorate from falling under the hegemony of sectarian armed elements, blatantly backed by the military and security brigades and battalions tasked with protecting the state and its institutions in the governorate.

With that heroic, epic, and unequal confrontation, the heroes of the resistance in Taiz, led by Sheikh Hamoud S. Al-Mukhlafi and his comrades of politicians, military and security leaders, sheikhs, and dignitaries, decided to confront the coup forces and break the humiliating state of surrender that had enabled the coup forces to seize state capabilities.

That had occurred since their entry into Sana’a under the watch of the formidable military cordon surrounding the capital — a cordon that included the finest battalions and units of the armed forces, yet it squandered the capital, the sovereignty of the state, and the decision and will of the people, becoming a Trojan horse to pass the coup project, in line with a blatant external will to abort change and its remarkable political outcomes in Yemen.

In those critical moments, a solid nucleus of the Popular Resistance was formed, and in the crucible of heroism, sacrifice, and redemption, fighters from all political components interacted to bring about the transformation that liberated the capital of Taiz Governorate and large parts of its countryside from the hegemony of the coup forces — given all that the governorate represents in terms of governing geographic advantage, demographic depth, and creative national engagement.

Since 2015 and before, Taiz Governorate has suffered from multi-party targeting, fueled by a vindictive containment impulse toward its role and republican symbolism. Hostile efforts thus turned to detonating it from within using means, some of them arbitrary, such as turning it into a hotbed for terrorist activities — an attempt that the Popular Resistance, the National Army, and security forces successfully thwarted after years of losses caused by the violent activities of extremist elements infiltrated into the governorate’s capital.

On this glorious anniversary, the heroes of the Popular Resistance and the people of Taiz proudly recall the brotherly solidarity expressed through the commendable Saudi military support for the Popular Resistance, and subsequently for the National Army forces in Taiz, alongside similar humanitarian and relief support the governorate received from the Kingdom, and from the brothers in Qatar and Kuwait and the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

On this glorious anniversary, the Political Bureau of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance expresses its aspiration that all the sons of the governorate draw inspiration from the honorable sacrifices of the resistance heroes — a sincere and selfless will to continue the resistance effort to defeat the coup forces behind the National Army and the Popular Resistance, and to engage in the process of rebuilding the governorate, based on responsibility and national partnership, and a shared commitment to the safety, security, and prosperity of the governorate within the framework of building a strong, prosperous, democratic, and republican Yemen.
