Popular Resistance denounces UN Envoy’s approach and demands the legitimate authority take a decisive stance toward its deliberate “exclusion”
Yemen – Special:
The Political Body of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance has followed with great concern the reports regarding the recent technical military meeting held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, under the auspices of the Office of the UN Envoy, Hans Grundberg. Out of our national responsibility toward the sacrifices of the Yemeni people, we affirm the following:
First: The Council strongly denounces the approach adopted by the UN Envoy’s office of deliberately excluding the official representation of the legitimate government, and describing the meeting as having brought together “representatives from Riyadh and Sana’a.” This logic is not merely a breach of protocol, but a systematic attempt to legitimize the coup and transform the Yemeni issue from a “state-versus-coup conflict” into a “dispute between regional and local parties,” which constitutes a clear violation of Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216.
Second: The continued state of confusion in the performance of the legitimate government and its absence from the table of sensitive military negotiations raises major questions. Therefore, the Council calls on the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to break their silence and clarify the reasons for this absence, affirming that relinquishing sovereign presence constitutes a squandering of the immense sacrifices made by the Yemeni people, their resistance, and their army since the coup until today, and that no understandings reached in isolation from official legitimate institutions can be accepted.
Third: The Council affirms that the political and military files are the essence of sovereignty, and any attempt to blackmail the Yemeni people through ambiguous tracks that serve the Houthi militia and legitimize its military presence are attempts doomed to fail.
The militia, which continues to target civilians and besiege cities, is a rebel and coupist party that must be subjected to national and international will, rather than being rewarded with partnership and coordination.
Fourth: The Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance declares its belief in the choice of the Yemeni people, who adhere to the three references (the Gulf Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue, and Security Council resolutions), and calls on all active and popular forces to remain vigilant and rally around the state project, and to reject the policy of “imposing a fait accompli” that some international parties are attempting to pass at the expense of Yemenis’ dignity.
In conclusion: The peace that Yemenis seek is a just peace based on restoring the state and its arms, not a fragile peace that grants killers certificates of absolution.
