*Statement of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance on the Occasion of the 36th National Day of the Republic of Yemen*

The 36th anniversary of the glorious National Day, May 22nd, is upon us — the day on which the greatest goals of the Yemeni people and their eternal revolution were embodied. It is the blessed fruit of a long struggle waged by Yemenis of all affiliations, elites, and political, social, and intellectual platforms throughout the 20th century, until Yemeni unity was achieved as a historic accomplishment and an inclusive national project that expressed the free will of the Yemeni people and their aspirations to build a unified and stable state.

This national anniversary comes amid highly significant transformations, with the page of the secessionist project having been largely closed. That project was one of the most dangerous endeavors targeting the great achievement of unity, and it hindered efforts to restore the state and diverted the battle to end the coup and reclaim the nation’s institutions. As we join our beloved compatriots in commemorating this occasion, we express deep concern over the absence of official celebrations of Yemeni Unity Day, which sends negative signals that entrench the pre-Hadramawt events status quo. We affirm in this regard that Yemeni unity is the great achievement belonging to all Yemenis — North and South, East and West — and is not subject to compromise or concession.

The past eleven years, with their crises, wars, and suffering, have proven that major national achievements cannot be built at the expense of the safety of the homeland and the unity of the state, nor through transient deals, dangerous concessions, or reckless adventures. Rather, they are realized through firm national will, great sacrifices, the invocation of moral and human responsibility, adherence to national unity, and a deep awareness of the facts and lessons of history.

Throughout the various stages of confrontation, the Popular Resistance has proven to be the truest expression of sacrifice, loyalty, and national belonging. It has formed a fundamental pillar in protecting what remains of the state’s foundations and in achieving field gains that prevented Yemen from falling entirely into the grip of the coup and chaos. It also provided the ground on which constitutional legitimacy relied during one of the most dangerous junctures faced by Yemenis in defense of their existence, identity, and the future of their state.

As the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance joins the Yemeni people in celebrating the 36th National Day of the Republic of Yemen, it views this occasion as an important national milestone that calls upon the legitimate authority, represented by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, along with all political and national forces and bodies, to engage in a serious and responsible effort to find practical solutions that move the country from the state of neither war nor peace, and from the current reality of paralysis and stumbling, to a new phase based on restoring the state’s effectiveness, addressing political, security, economic, and social challenges, and ending the state of division and polarization that threatens to return Yemen to the dark ages of clerical rule, fragmentation, and disintegration.

The Council believes that achieving this begins with launching a substantive, multi-party national dialogue under the umbrella of the legitimate Yemeni state. Its primary goal should be to rebuild trust among national forces, renew the covenant of brotherhood and national partnership, and direct energies and capabilities toward a decisive political and military battle that leads to the reunification of political decision-making, the end of the Houthi coup, and the extension of the state’s authority and institutions across the entire national territory.

The Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance affirms that the recently achieved unity of position within the Coalition to Support Legitimacy should be transformed into a genuine support element that strengthens national unity, helps repair the fractures and divisions produced by years of war, and supports the cohesion of national forces behind the legitimate leadership, thereby serving the battle to restore the state and achieve security and stability at the level of Yemen and the region.

Glory and eternity to the martyrs of the revolution, the republic, unity, change, and the defense of the state.

A speedy recovery to the wounded, freedom to the detainees, and dignity and peace to our great Yemeni people.
