*Political Authority of the Popular Resistance Holds Political Lecture in Taiz on Yemeni Unity and Current Challenges*
Taiz: Special
The Political Authority of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance organized an awareness-raising political lecture for leaders and members of the Popular Resistance in Taiz Governorate. The lecture was delivered by Eng. Waheeb Al-Mansub, member of the Political Authority, and addressed the course of the Yemeni national struggle and the future of Yemeni unity in light of current challenges.
During the lecture, Eng. Al-Mansub emphasized that preserving and sustaining Yemeni unity is linked to completing the battle to restore the state, ending the Houthi coup, and reclaiming state institutions. He also stressed the need to entrench the principles of justice and equal citizenship, and to strengthen genuine national partnership in power and wealth. He noted that unity is not a transient event, but a national project that requires constant entrenchment and a unifying political will.
The lecturer reviewed several historical milestones in modern Yemen’s trajectory, highlighting the national role of the September 26th and October 14th revolutions in ending the Imamate and colonialism. He pointed out that these revolutions formed the national foundation that paved the way for achieving Yemeni unity on May 22, 1990.
He explained that Yemeni unity came as a response to the aspirations of the Yemeni people and as an embodiment of a shared history, identity, and destiny. However, its path has faced challenges and political and institutional imbalances in subsequent stages, which contributed to the emergence of accumulated political and social crises.
Speaking about the Southern Issue, Al-Mansub stated that addressing it requires a deep understanding of the causes and challenges that produced it, and working to build a just national partnership that corrects imbalances and strengthens the country’s unity and stability.
He also stressed that building a modern Yemeni state requires ending the Houthi coup, restoring state institutions, and guaranteeing rights, freedoms, and equality for all citizens. This, he said, would enhance political and social stability and fulfill Yemenis’ aspirations for security and development.
The lecture concluded by affirming the importance of preserving Yemen’s unity, strengthening national consensus, and supporting efforts to restore the state and build its institutions on the foundations of justice and national partnership.
