A delegation from the European Union, headed by Ambassador Patrick Simmonet, paid a field visit to the headquarters of the “Ihtiraf” Institute for Training and Qualification in Taiz City, to review the progress of work at this developmental institution and learn about the institute’s role in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for those affected by the war.
The delegation closely observed the efforts being made to qualify the groups most affected by the war, foremost among them the families of martyrs, the wounded, and abductees. These programs are among the activities implemented by the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance, headed by Sheikh Hamoud Saeed Al-Mukhlafi, through its Humanitarian Department, in an effort to empower these groups economically and socially and strengthen their resilience in the face of difficult living challenges.
The delegation toured the institute’s various departments and listened to a detailed briefing on the specialized programs it offers, which aim to transform human suffering into creative and productive energy by equipping trainees with modern professional and technical skills that ensure dignified and sustainable livelihoods.
For its part, the European Union delegation expressed great appreciation for the advanced level the institute has reached, commending the importance of developmental initiatives that contribute to building human capacity and supporting community stability, stressing that investing in human capital is the optimal way to overcome the effects of war and achieve recovery.
This visit highlights the pivotal role played by the “Ihtiraf” Institute as a pioneering project that links humanitarian work with developmental empowerment, making it a model to be emulated in economic and social recovery projects in war-affected areas.
