The Supreme Council for Popular Resistance Strongly Endorses the Security Council’s Call to Update the International Sanctions List Against Those Obstructing the Political Process

The Supreme Council for Popular Resistance expresses its great satisfaction with the advanced and pivotal steps taken by the legitimate authority, represented by the Presidential Leadership Council and the Government, in confronting the ongoing and rejected inciting and sabotaging activities of the dissolved Southern Transitional Council led by Aidarous al-Zubaidi.

The Council expresses its deep appreciation for the call made by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Yemen to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah al-Saadi, to the UN Security Council, on the necessity to “assume its responsibility in updating the sanctions list whenever facts require, including all individuals and entities proven to be involved in sabotage or obstruction of the political process, or those seeking to impose unilateral measures by force.”

The Supreme Council for Popular Resistance considers that the content of the Yemeni statement presented by Ambassador al-Saadi during today’s Tuesday session of the Security Council represents a development of utmost importance that will contribute to thwarting plots aimed at undermining the political process and efforts to restore calm and achieve stability, especially in the temporary political capital Aden.

In this regard, the Council affirms its absolute support for the package of measures taken by the Government, based on the Constitution and the law, against a number of those involved in acts of rebellion, corruption, and grave human rights violations, foremost among them Aidarous al-Zubaidi, who is accused of the crime of high treason, as stated in the statement submitted to the UN Security Council.
