The city of Taiz witnessed a massive public march today, Thursday, during which various segments of society affirmed their national alignment behind the Presidential Leadership Council, and rejected all forms of hegemony and coup. This came in response to a call issued by the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance, the local authority, political parties, and components in the governorate.
Tens of thousands of citizens participated in the march, coming from different districts of Taiz Governorate. They carried the national flags and renewed their support for the political leadership represented by the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi. They also expressed support for his decisions and all steps aimed at protecting state institutions, restoring security and stability, and ending the Houthi coup.
The crowds chanted slogans calling for completing the liberation of the country and ending the coup by the Houthi militia. They renewed their pledge to support the National Army and the Popular Resistance in the battle to restore the state, and affirmed that Taiz will remain at the forefront in defense of the republic and the project of the state.
The masses raised banners and slogans affirming Taiz’s permanent stand alongside state institutions and constitutional legitimacy, and its commitment to the option of completing the liberation, ending the coup, and restoring state institutions. They also affirmed the depth of the fraternal relationship between Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and that the security of the two countries and their interests represent a common destiny.
The statement of the march, which was read by the Governor of Taiz Governorate, Nabil Shamsan, affirmed the full support of the governorate’s people for the speech of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, describing it as a roadmap for restoring the state and ending the coup. He called for rallying around the political leadership and the armed forces to achieve the goals of this phase.
The statement stressed support for all measures taken by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to protect Yemen’s sovereignty, and rejected the imposition of any fait accompli outside state institutions. It affirmed that the state and its legitimate institutions are the only path to achieving security and stability.
The participants announced their support for resuming oil exports, describing it as a necessary step to restore state resources, enable the government to fulfill its obligations, pay salaries, and improve the level of basic services for citizens.
The statement indicated that Taiz Governorate represents the most prominent evidence of the falsehood of the Houthi militia’s claims regarding the siege. It confirmed that the militia is the one that closed the roads, targeted civilians, and imposed suffering on the people of the governorate throughout the years of war.
The statement called for strengthening national unity, and rallying around the political leadership, the armed forces, and the Popular Resistance, to ensure the success of the battle of liberation and end the coup. It affirmed that Taiz will remain the voice of the republic and a fundamental pillar in the project to restore the state.
